Sharing: Priest Fernando Suarez Criticized for His Luxurious Lifestyle Filipino Catholic priest Fernando Suarez is under fire in social networking sites after Philippine Daily Inquirer revealed that the healing priest enjoys extravagant lifestyle and cohorts massive unnecessary spending from donations without documents to support the transactions. According to the report published by Inquirer, a couple of acquisition of properties were made by Father Suarez’s Mary Mother of the Poor Foundation but San Miguel Corporation discovered that the foundation had spent money left and right without supporting documents. SMC disclosed that the foundation acquired properties without supporting documents to include Little Bridge Resort in Butong, Taal town in Batangas province, saying it paid P55 million out of the total purchase price of P74 million. Other anomalies include the construction work for the Tabernacle 3 of St. Peter’s Chapel in Butong, Taal, Batangas at P17,827,412.04 in 2008 and 2009 and acquisition of a 102,795-sq m property, but only P3,101,850 was booked out of the donation of P7,249,950 by Teresa Chan. The healing priest was also caught on saying “Sa akin binigay ang pera. Bakit ko ibibigay sa aking foundation (The money was given to me. Why should I give it to my foundation)?”, when asked why his foundation was short on finances. Fernando Suarez extols the virtues of poverty and humility, but the priest, who has allegedly performed faith healing in the Philippines and all over the world, enjoys a luxurious living complex by staying in five-star hotels. He also attends tennis matches like the Wimbledon Classic and the French Open. SMC insider also revealed that before living rich lifestyle, Fernando Suarez would come wearing only a T-shirt and sandals to the office of Ramon S. Ang, president and CEO of San Miguel Corporation.
