Sharing this because this as described, is but a part of what was my total experience (and continues to be). (and a paradox will be described further down) ; and in a sense, is so paramount in this high speed internet age of instant information gratification and self-entitlement. Here, he writes about things. About our desire to possess things gadgets even apps, things can now be invisible....more more more. The leech has two daughters, Give, Give. There are three things that will not be satisfied, four that will not say, Enough! . Tozer writes: There is within the human heart a tough fibrous root of fallen life whose nature is to possess, always to possess. It covets things with a deep and fierce passion. The pronouns my and mine look innocent enough in print, but their constant and universal use is significant. (will add, think of children..mine mine mine...a root of greed emerges) They express the real nature of the old Adamic man better than a thousand volumes of theology could do. They are verbal symptoms of our deep disease. The roots of our hearts have grown down into things , and we dare not pull up one rootlet lest we die. Things have become necessary to us, a development never originally intended. Gods gifts now take the place of God, and the whole course of nature is upset by the monstrous substitution. In knowing NOTHING it was made known through an Understanding not of my making, that those things are what are recorded in form ultimately as idols, idols which are contrived out of our own thoughts, ideas, or notions whatever those might be. For it was then said, people love their own thoughts more than anything else! (whether they like those thoughts is another matter, but we might cling to them like our lives depend on our very thoughts which in some form only but seem to justify our existence in order to have things make sense and for what? In a world that doesnt make any sense at all to begin with, what merit is that but to ones own self? ; in that light, they justify nothing and mean nothing. They are thoughts of ones own making from our vain imaginations and that is all and are meaningless to someone who doesnt even know us. Ones own mind is not the center of the universe, but where is the Center of the Universe? Therefore, there need not be anything in form for there to be an idol, our own ideals , notions and ideas can be idols. But why call them false idols since they are real to us? Because they are not Reality. Reality does not depend on what I, you, or any one else thinks about things If so, there would be no reality at all, since everyone thinks differently. The paradox was, coming to Understand the Nature of all Things, yet, knowing nothing. It isnt about facts as we know facts, but it is a Fact of His Nature that He can come to be Known by you, by your being Known by Him. He acts, we are the recipient of His Knowing Us. The nature of all things. His Nature. Another paradox then followed, I will tell you Many things...but those things had nothing to do with what could be possessed, but more to do with how to come to Understand Him incrementally..and in His Joy, he sold all he had, and bought the field. Then one day, I actually started to read the bible, and found Jeremiah 33:3 https://youtube/watch?v=uYHJeeH7880
