Sharing this with a comment about clickbait and social media: the most complete news coverage usually comes from the news source closest to the story. Often the subsequent press misses details and in this case the thing went viral because somebody misrepresented it completely. What actually happened in Columbus, Ohio is a health teacher took a page from an obsolete textbook as a starting point for discussion about how gender norms have changed. Then someone posted a pic of the old textbook page itself--not the critical evaluation outlined in the class plan--and Reddit went wild. The main storm happened last November but its still kicking around a bit including a repost on this group today. School teachers dont get nearly enough pay for the flak they put up with and this class plan, in context, looks like a completely reasonable starting place for discussion. Lets applaud the hard work teachers do when they develop an innovative and stimulating curriculum.
