Sharon Renee Luna and Kristie Hawkins I would like to take the time to thank you both for allowing me the opportunity to read the book that you so graciously forwarded to me. For those of you who are not familiar with the book I am talking about the book is titled The County Sheriff Americas Last Hope written by Sheriff Richard Mack. Sharon as promised i took the time to read and assess this book. To start off I truly enjoyed reading this book and it definitely brings to light valid concerns of the foundation in which the framers of our government devised the constitution. I agree with the fact that the system was created with checks and balances to provide protection to the people. Without checks and balances we the people are not guaranteed our freedom, peace, and prosperity which in return allows us the people our individual rights. I understand and fully believe that the sheriff is for the people by the people and with that being said, I agree and stand for the sheriffs duty as being tasked and inpowered to stand up against tyranny. I also believe that the sheriff is the keeper of peace and must enforce the laws that he/she has sworn to uphold by oath. I will absolutely stand up for you the people of Sierra County, but it must be just and with checks and balances in place as our framers intended. As the supreme law enforcement of the county, the sheriff or his deputies must gather all facts and investigate all allegations whether it be criminal or Tyranny and follow procedures and policies in upholding the constitutions and laws. Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it. I do understand your concerns and I fully intend on protecting the peoples constitutional rights, but there is a right way to handle individual situations and it is not by starting a street fight or forming a posse.
