She is an acclaimed actress of stage, television and film. She has found success in all three mediums. Her theatre work includes Broadway productions of, Whos Who in Hell, Social Security and Rose. She has also worked in a Connecticut revival of Tennessee Williams, The Milk Train Doesnt Stop Here Anymore and Another Side of the Island in Montana. Her work on stage has garnered her an Obie Award, a Drama Desk Award and a Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award. In television she has appeared on Law and Order: SVU and has done voice work for episodes of The Simpsons and Mike and Molly. She was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for her performance in the tv film Sinatra. She has also been nominated for Emmy Awards for her work in the television films, Lucky Day, More Tales from the City and Joan of Arc. Her film work has included performances in, The Cemetery Club, Cloudburst, Away from Her, John and Mary, The Wanderers, The Idolmaker, Working Girl, Steel Magnolias, Dad, Look Whos Talking, Look Whos Talking Too, Look Whos Talking Now, Mr. Hollands Opus, Mighty Aphrodite, Mother, Jeffrey, Charlies War, The Event, The Thing About My Folks and A Little Game. In 1987 she won both a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Moonstruck.
