She is literally tearing her hair out over her baby breastfeeding- she has been to see several support services without getting answers and the advice constantly being given that if it doesnt work, give formula. Nobody was stopped to look at why. She literally had photos of the babies poo, unusual latch and feeding times stored on her phone as she has shown so many care professionals who have shrugged her off. The quick discussion lead in a lot of different directions but a quick latch easily identified that he wasnt latching as he should. His top lip wasnt flanging out as it should, which can affect the ability to withdraw milk effectively. Unfortunately this wasnt picked up as a concern as a newborn, despite the Mums constant asking- as she had an abundance of milk that would spray the room, so bub was putting on plenty of weight. Since her supply regulating though, he is struggling to gain any weight at all. Unfortunately ties often give off lots of other issues that can be bandaid fixed but not always resolved- and not enough care professionals have the skills to identify these issues or think breastfeeding is important enough to consider releasing these ties to make for optimal feeding options for babies.
