She was staring at a framed certificate displayed on the wall. ‘Your frame is tilted, Dr. Kabir. Can I straighten it?’ I was a little surprised, but gladly nodded, ‘please go ahead.’ She stood up and fixed the tilt. Coming back to her chair, she said, ‘My psychiatrist has a tilted frame on his wall permanently displayed, and he does not allow me to fix that. It used to make me irritated back then, but now I don’t mind. He says, this is a good sign. May be I am getting better. What do you think, Doc?’ I am treating her for pulmonary problems, and passing a quick comment on the status of her mental illness may not be quite appropriate. But I did not want to disappoint her. Hiding my reluctance, I said, ‘You should believe what your psychiatrist says. Sure, this is a good sign.’ She gave me a happy smile. And that was worth it!
