Shelburne Library news The holiday weekend is over and everyone is back to school and work and many of you were in the library this morning. It was terrific. A big thank you to John at No Frills and all of you for supporting our Book Sale there this past weekend. Financially, we did very well and sold a huge number of books. Our dedicated volunteers, Jim and Diane Worobec and George Barton sorted and carted the books out and staffed the tables all day. All this work is really a credit to our volunteers…and our patrons. Enjoy the many new books as a result! The start of this week is really big for us in a number of other ways. The University students we had this summer, Melissa and Emily are back at school for the year. They were terrific and I know you all enjoyed working with them. We have a new employee, Jade Noble, joining our team. Jade is a recent graduate from the University of Western Ontario Library Science program and I know you will enjoy meeting her. Jade will be working with our teens and I am excited to participate in some of the new programs she will be developing. Both Trudy and Diane will be back to help staff the desk and shelve our books. After all, what good would a library be, if you couldn’t find the books in alpha order or by the Dewey Decimal system? Also our programs will be starting up again next week so keep checking us out!!! Library Literary Events: Off the Page Remember that Barry Gough is coming on Sunday, September 21 with his new book, The Elusive Mr. Pond, The soldier, fur trader, and explorer who opened the Northwest. We would appreciate you letting us know that you are coming by calling the library at 519 925-2168. Also today, we have set up another Library Literary Event with Hugh Brewster either late October or early Novembers. I know many of you have enjoyed Hugh before so stay tuned to announcements about the actual date. New books keep coming in so watch our shelves and our website to place a hold on your favourites.
