Shes Home! Vickie was discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon and she is very happy to be home with her kitty that she missed so much. She is also enjoying the comfort of her own bed. A visiting nurse will come daily to check in on her and help her with a daily injection to prevent blood clots. Pathology reports from the surgery came back it looks like they removed the entire tumor however 4/12 of the lymph nodes tested had cancer. According to her surgeon, this is not unusual but more of a reason why they will recommend further treatment (chemo and radiation) during her follow-up appointment on January 9th. For now, Vickie is resting a lot, trying to regain her strength and learn which foods her new digestive system can tolerate which can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks, and often times longer. Although she is home, her fight is not yet over - please continue to keep her in your prayers and follow the page for updates.
