#Shingal #Iraq #Peshmerga #YPG #IS #Daash #Êzidî A massive counter-offensive is now underway at Shingal to push back IS and also rescue the trapped Êzidî refugees in the nearby mountains. Several thousand Peshmerga fighter started to attack the city and the surroundings with heavy gear, including new tanks, artillery and heavy machine guns; next to the normal Peshmerga forces also the special Forces of the Peshmerga as well as Syrian-Kurdish YPG fighters are involved in this coordinated attack. Up to now there are no secure numbers on causalities and/or how far the Kurdish counter-attack reached up to now, though there are rumors of scores of killed IS-fighters, several destroyed IS tanks and Humvees and that the Peshmerga are already in control of several parts of Shingal.
