Shoreline Sandpiper ~ The sun had barely come up over the Delaware Bay horizon as its soft light began to warm the shoreline. It was eerily quiet as you could barely feel the soft morning breeze. I laid down on the shoreline in a small spot without too many rocks and shells stabbing at me and only had to wait a short moment before one of the many Semipalmated Sandpipers landed in front of me. This particular bird began to search the shoreline for food and worked its way right towards me. Not long after, another came in to chase it away, they are territorial little birds for sure. Taken along Port Mahon Road in Port Mahon Delaware. ~ 8/4/14 ~ 500 mm - ¹⁄₅₀₀ sec at f/5.6 - ISO1000 ~ Please view large and feel free to share.
