Shrouded in cloud cover amongst the peaks of the eastern Himalayas, I have found that the Kingdom of Bhutan was one of the most exceptional countries I have been privileged enough to visit, known globally for its friendly people and immense landscape. It has up until recently been a country closed to tourists and even now, access to the country remains difficult, with only 100,000 tourist visas being granted each year.
