Shucks, Its Monday again...Maybe this amazing story will perk you up this morning! Josey came into AARCS care in October with one of the worst cases of chronic ear infections that any of us had ever seen. Her ears had become cauliflowered as they were so infected that she likely flung her head around so much in discomfort, which then caused severe trauma to the ears. She did not know it at the time, but her life (and comfort level) was going to change big time because this lucky girl was taken in by AARCS! After treating the infection with antibiotics and painkillers for some time in preparation for surgery, Josey had a total ear canal ablation (removal of the infected ear canal) on both ears. She spent two days at the vet, and left a very happy girl! Her pain and discomfort prior to the surgery was absolutely heartbreaking, and her foster Mom was so happy to see the vast improvement afterwards. She was able to go home just in time for Christmas! She used to run through her fosters house just shaking and rubbing her ears, driving herself crazy just trying to get some relief. Her foster Mom would sit with her and scratch her belly to try to distract her until she calmed down. Now, she is just about all healed. Her left ear is taking a bit longer than the right, but her quality of life is significantly improved and she is such a happy girl! She is finally able to relax and her foster Mom reports that she sleeps a LOT as she finally has some relief. Josey will be available for adoption in the next couple of weeks so stay tuned in to the AARCS Adoptable Dogs page (aarcs.ca/adoptable-dogs/) and keep your eyes out for her!
