Monday August 12, 2013 - As former Prime Minister and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader, Raila Odinga, prepares to give it a 4 th try at the Presidency in 2017, a reliable source has indicated that he may leave out former Vice President and Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, as his running mate. This is after it emerged that Raila Odinga is grooming Bomet Governor, Isaac Rutto, to be his running mate in the next General Elections. The source further indicates that Raila settled on Isaac Rutto in order to neutralize President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s Jubilee’s presence in Rift Valley, which is so rich in votes. Just recently, Isaac Rutto visited Homa Bay County during a fundraiser and routed for a possible merger between Rift Valley and Nyanza regions ahead of 2017 polls, a move that infuriated Deputy President, William Ruto, to bribe URP MPs to demand for the expulsion of Bomet Governor from the party for working with Raila Odinga. The relationship between Isaac Rutto and William Ruto has been souring by the day with the Deputy President feeling Isaac is slowly toppling him as Kalenjin leader. However, when reached for comment, Isaac Ruto denied the allegation saying he will seek a second term in 2017 as Bomet Governor and not Raila Odinga’s running mate.
