Sicherungs Regiment chiefly advocates for non-tactical based immersion events. While we seek to reenact WWII, we do not seek “trigger time.” The hobby has traditionally been based around blank-fire tacticals. We seek new avenues to reenact the more mundane day-to-day life of WWII soldiers that exist “beyond the blank fire.” Over the weekend of August 9 we were pleased to participate in a groundbreaking scenario in Candia, NH. The scenario was a rear-area German command center with a temporary POW holding pen that held “actual” POWs. Some were even assigned an actual work detail! Guards were stationed at the POW pen. Patrols circulated the area for partisans and small-scale reconnaissance patrols by Allies. This event was comprised of many innovative approaches to reenacting, more so than can be touched upon in one post. As these new approaches are dear to our heart, will post various comments about the philosophical highlights of this event in the near future. We hope that such events will become regular fixtures of the reenacting landscape. For now, here are few photos from the event.
