Sid Dennis and sons ltd division 1 The Steelers this week wrapped up the title in Style with a 12 nil thumping over Ex Service Sports with S Wilson hitting 180 ,140, M Thompson 123, 140, Kristian Thein 121, 137, 3 x140 and Carl Abbiss 125, 134, 140 and more importantly 2 MARKS, 2nd placed Outsiders confirmed runner up spot with a resounding 11 1 mauling away at the Seaview Raiders, outsiders Martin Bell 180, David Tuplin 121 finish, Andrew Pinner was the star for outsiders with 2 x 121, 125, 140, captain Lee Yates 125, 132, Seaview looked unlucky to be on the wrong side of the result as they had Geoff poulter being their only winner and high scores from Peter East 121, 140, Steve Gillings 3 x140, and captain Steven Emsen 2 x180 Liberal Adams Family trailed Ex Service Cobras 4-2 after the singles, and so it looked all set for a close pairs, but the Cobras took them all, but only just as each game went the distance 2-1, giving them a 10-2 win Adams Family James Jenkins 120, 121, 140 and G Pacey checking out on 109, Cobras R Parnham was a machine on his 19s hitting 123, and 3 x 133, Ex Service 501s took on Barkham arms in what turned out to be a very close game trailing 4-2 after the singles 501s needed all the pairs to win, and L Woods and Carl Parnham got em off to the start they needed with a win over captain George Millington and Alan Wakefield, however the early promise was not backed up by the rest, as Barkham took both the next 2 to run out 8-4 winners , 501s Carl Parnham hit 131 and 5 140s Sid Dennis and sons Division 2 A 2 horse race for the title in this one with both Liberal Lads and Finnigans promoted after results this week, just the small matter of champions to sort out, and Liberal lads are odds on favourites for a swift return to division 1 as they Travelled to the Vine this week and had the early innitiative as they led 4-2 after the singles, they then took the first 2 pairs before losing the last, but managed an 8-4 victory with I Parnaby 2 x140, C Pringle 125, 140, giving them a 3 point lead with 2 games to go, Vine had S Rands hitting 140 ,180, Finnigans took on Cricket Club and dominated from start to finish with a crushing 11-1 win J Elsom being the Cricket Clubs only victor, Finnigans B Millar 121, 122, 127 and 109 finish being the pick of their scores and captain Bill Proom and Scott Millar getting the first pairs to gain the win, Liberal us and WMC Aces had a tussle with the Aces taking the singles 5-1 it looked hopeless for the Liberal, however they made a fight of it winning 2 of the pairs, but still went down 5-7 Liberals D Martin 2x140, David Reding and Gareth Jowett, being amongs the aces singles winners, Hillbillies took on Royal oak, who are battling for 3rd place, and it was the oak who led from pillar to post with a 11-1 win, and this without their talisman Lee Godrich, Ex service C took on Welcome Anchors and C stand in captain D Carnall did his captain proud as he led hid team to a 8-4 win, Kev Brady hitting 121, 125, and welcomes Gareth Turner hit 2 x 140 and Neil Huskisson and Scott Dore being their singles winners. With the league fixtures drawing to a close, thoughts turn to presentation night, and this year we have the rocket Ronnie Baxter doing the honours for us taking on 20 league players and presenting the trophies, there is to be 5 places to play him decided on the night, so bring yer arrers you never know, John Fowler is the MC Finally, the league is to run a summer league this year, open to both men and ladies, it will be run on a 4 player format, as players sometimes struggle to get during the summer months, however reserves can be used. The league will be based on singles and doubles, but an exciting new format has been thrashed out by the committee, it will all start in June after our presentation evening, and a meeting has been called at wmc on Friday 25th April at 7.30, all interested parties please attend, and we are hopefull of attracting a number of lady players
