Simple steps for IES, GATE & PSU for all branches. 1. First realize that your B.Tech degree is not of much use and just forget it. Decide to prepare forward and start between June -August 2. First prepare for GATE. If possible, join a good coaching and have 2 or 3 sincere friends to discuss and support morally. 3. Print out syllabus and mark topics in standard books. 4. Read one subjects theory from notes or books and solve their questions. Now go to past years GATE questions bank. Do one subject at a time. Then prepare short notes of that subject by writing important formula, points and silly mistakes done by you while solving. 5. Repeat above step for all gate subjects. Nearly 20 days per subject. Then revise all short notes. In between please do JOIN a test series. Treat each test as real exam and discuss it. [ And if you have time, solve past years IES questions bank (but choose only numerical type questions here). If not leave it. ] 6. Appear in GATE exam and crack it. Forget it now and do not wait for results. When shortlisted, appear in interviews. 7. Next day, now start for IES. Read required theory vastly, one subject at a time. Start giving 3 hours daily to English and GS. Rest time to non-GATE technical subjects. 8. Solve past years IES objective questions bank (again) and write past years conventional answers in fair proper handwriting. Time yourself. Do one subject at a time. 9. Join test series and keep improving. Finish syllabus at least 1 month before exams. Keep revising. Quit studying 2 days before exam and during exam also. Appear in IES and crack it. Continue preparation for next GATE exam. And please prepare for IES interview only when called for it. 10. PSUs exams are small obstacles. They come and go in this whole cycle. Do not change your plan for them. Just revise whatever youve studied till then and appear. And please remember that NOT qualifying PSU is NOT a failure.
