Since 1984, there have been roughly 10 films dealing with the topic of slavery. That is less than a dozen in the last 30 years. Where are black people getting the notion that they have been inundated with movies about slavery? Sure Lincoln and Django Unchained have been released recently and there is a new one out right now, but really, how many movies about slavery have you actually seen in the last 15 years? There have only been five: “Amistad,” “Beloved,” “Lincoln,” “Django Unchained” and “12 Years a Slave.” If you don’t want to see “12 Years a Slave,” then don’t. But acting as if a movie you haven’t seen is somehow a scourge on the culture because you’d rather spend $10.00 on “Best Man Holiday,” is disingenuous, Hollywood stars like Nick Cannon arguing that we dont have enough positive images on screen is like a drug dealer chastising someone for getting high. Negro please!! You have a multi-million production company and Real Husbands of Hollywood has been your most memorable role in years.
