Since I was a kid my dad would always do RAOK to people. (Pay for groceries for ppl he noticed were putting things back to lower the bill to afford it, paid for young kids to get in the movies because it was obvious they were all each other had and big brother saved what he could to take his siblings out but if he bought the tickets he would only have enough for a drink so my dad paid their way in and let them spend their money on snacks.) Ive done RAOK in the past. I have all these memories growing up watching my dad do all these RAOK as his dad would do with him. Anyways, Im passing that onto my little one even tho she may only be 17 months. I was selling some baby Nikes on a mommies group for $15 as I paid $30 for them. The girl asked if I would accept any less and I said no cause I already cut it by 50%. Then we were texting and she asked where I worked and I told her the County of Riverside. She asked if it was the welfare office and I replied yes. She went on to say she was there this week. I was due to meet her tomorrow (sat) because thats when she could get a ride. I felt the need to reach out to this girl because 1-Shes trying to provide nice things for her daughter 2-Shes swallowed her pride to go get help to assist her in providing for her kids and 3- I have a hard time selling things I know is going to benefit a child. So I text her and said dont worry about finding a ride Ill come to you, I want to give these brand new Nikes (my daughter only wore 3 times if that) and Ill also give you these cowgirl boots she outgrew a few months ago. She was so thankful and told me my parents raised a kind hearted girl. I told her I want nothing in return, all I wanted was for her to pay it forward when she is able to. She may be thanking me but I was also thanking her for letting me do it.
