Since Nerissa Tai asked me to post this up, here we go! :) Why: Really get to understand what really it is that you want to do with this club. Is it networking, social impact, personal development...etc? Try not to choose more than one. If you had to get something out of this, what is it? You can have a secondary one, however. Feel free to be specific or broad. Vision/Dream: With your why done, think about what this club will accomplish in its lifetime. For example, my startups vision/dream is to make every person in the world be able to give charitably everyday. Scope: To what degree are you going to be involved? Hands on volunteering? More large scale change initiatives? Systems thinking approach to solving problem, thus more theory driven? Or what is it? Goals: What do you want to accomplish in the short and medium term? Is it per project basis Assets: Keep in mind what you have in your toolbox and be honest with it. What can you bring to the table? Abilities? Financial support? Network? Hardwork?...etc Here is an example: If my why is to impact poverty, then my vision could go on the same line as to see an elimination of systematic homelessness in the Downtown Eastside. To do that my scope would probably be something of more large scale and to do with systems approach. My goal in the short term to probably build my the membership, assets, and network for my group. My assets would be abilities and network that I can bring to the table. An example of unclear: So same example, but instead of scope may be more hands on - which is fine. By the degree of how I am hands on and volunteering? What is it am I doing? If I am providing meals and that is the core activity, then Im not really accomplishing our vision or dream, or be able to do this is a proper time frame. You have to be honest with all these or you risk having divergent focus and implementation.
