Since completing my marathon a week ago. I have been eating - TopicsExpress

Since completing my marathon a week ago. I have been eating anything and everything under the sun. Like most of us I use food as a REWARD which can be a dangerous road to be on especially since the Holiday season is right around the corner with Thanksgiving & Holiday parties fast approaching. In an effort to get back on track my husband and I are going on a 3 Day Juice Detox. Why: Short Juice Detox can boost your immune system, improve your energy levels, eliminate bloating, relieve constipation and detox your entire system. It gives the body a much needed time out from the “strenuous” work of digestion and helps the immune system clear out dead, diseased and damaged cells. A 3 day detox can be effective for breaking binges, cravings and other bad eating habits. In researching Juice Detox I discovered it is recommended to do a detox at the beginning of a new season. It gives the body a chance to flush out the old and bring in the new. The Best way to Juice Detox: Drink as much juice as you want and drink juice from an assortment of fruits and vegetables to ensure you consume a variety of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is always best to use produce that is seasonal I am attempting 3 day detox so I don’t need to stick closely to seasonal fruits & vegetables but if attempting to detox for a longer period of time I would strongly recommend sticking to produce that is in seasonal and its very hard to try a fast or detox in winter that is not the time your body was designed to gain weight during the cold and windy season. If you think about it: there is a reason you crave salads and ice tea during the summer months and crave heavier stews, soups & pumpkin pie winter time. Listen to your body. To strengthen your immune system: Use fruits & vegetables that contain healing properties. Here is a list of Super Fruits & Vegetables: beets, cabbage, wheatgrass, sprouts, lemons, carrots, celery, green peppers, oranges, parsley, apples, strawberries, blueberries, cranberries, kale, asparagus, bananas, avocado, cherries, spinach and grapefruit. The list goes on feel free to do some additional research. I have tried to find recipes that are rich with these ingredients. To shed excess water weight & eliminate bloating: Use produce that act as a natural diuretic including watermelon, parsley, cucumber, lemon, kiwi fruit, asparagus and cantaloupe with seed. To relieve constipation or lose weight: mix bulk agents like psyllium husks and flax seed in your homemade juices to promote regularity and keep feeling full longer. Meal Plan for 3- Day Juice Detox **Juice should be made with fresh, uncooked fruit & vegetables in a juicer. I don’t recommend store bought juices as they often contain added sugar, additives. They fruits and vegetables are cooked or boiled and lose nutritional value. You can add small amounts of filtered water when you need to adjust the consistency. Juice Recipes ** these are only ideas. How to Break a Fast: We all are usually tempted to eat everything in sight after coming off a diet or a juice detox. It is important to ease into normal eating to avoid stomach upset and stress to your system. Remember while you were fasting your stomach was essentially asleep. To wake up your digestive system consume small meals, eat slowly and chew your food thoroughly. THE SUGAR CRAVINGS this is normal. Eat fresh or dried fruit. Sugar begets sugar so limit your intake to prevent going down the same path again and undoing all the good work you have done over the last 3 days.
