Since it is the very last day of the month, I should have known this was coming. Fire drills are mandatory once a month. By the end of the month, if there hasnt been one, a teacher just knows one of her classes will be interrupted. She just doesnt always know which one. So today while we were all outside in the sun waiting for the signal to go back in, we were to take attendance to make sure we had everyone outside. I had one student, so I made a quick count. The teachers who had brought out 30 students who were looking for their friends from other classes had a bit more difficulty taking a count. Then the signal came to take em back in. One teacher was fussin because teachers had been taken down last fire drill because they hadnt taken a count. This time as they were trying to take a count and werent given enough time to do it! Said teacher who was complaining said, I need to complain about this. Either they want uss to do it and give us enough time to find them all and count, or they dont complain to us because we dont have enough time. So I said to her, Go ahead and tell em what you think. Somebody needs to take my place here. And I heard one of my colleagues agree. There werent enough Linda Holders at EHS anymore. Actually, I think one was plenty.
