Since my mom was here from Wisconsin visiting, the boys made the trip home from college Sunday and we celebrated Thanksgiving and Anas birthday. Andrew, my oldest son, has always loved to cook. When he was 12 he entered a pie baking contest. He was the only boy and most of the other contestants were 70 year plus women. HE WON! It did not go over well with some of the ladies. :) Here is his Old Fashioned Pecan Pie recipe. Ingredients: One pie shell 1 1/2 cups of pecans 1/2 stick of butter (1/4 cup) -melted 1 cup of Karo 1/4 cup of brown sugar 1/8 cup of white sugar 1/4 cup of pure maple syrup 3 eggs-beaten 1 tablespoon of vanilla 1 teaspoon of salt -Place your pecans in your pie shell. Mix all the other ingredients together and pour over pecans. Brush the edges of your pie crust with milk and sprinkle lightly with cinnamon & sugar. Bake on 350 for approximately 45 minutes or until center of pie touches firm. Enjoy!
