Since this WayBack thing seems to be popular...lets do some more. Who remembers: The WTOB Good Guys. My personal favorite was the Flying Dutchman. That guy was a hoot if there ever was one. Thruway before there was a lower mall. If you remember when the west end stopped at the grocery store, you is a really old fart. When Reznicks was in the same row of buildings as the old WTOB radio station and Town Steak House. The Ban the Bumps protests when the speed bumps were installed at Thruway. Bonus points if you remember why the speed bumps were installed in the first place. Mega bonus points if you remember who organized the protests and walked the picket line every day. When a pass through Thruway was as much a part of the Stratford cruise as the turnarounds at Triangle and Putt-Putt. Your first reaction to the Shop of John Simmons. Hickory Farms across from John Simmons. So many cheeses. So little time. That was when I first discovered that too much cheese would clog my plumbing...if ya know what I mean. Alfie the Asshole...the head lifeguard at Bolton pool who always had that white sunblock on his nose. Jerk! Shady Oaks drive-in...and Charlie...who had such a gift of gab that people who didnt even like the food ate there just to sit around and pass the time with him. When Kent Road was a two-way short cut to and from Colosseum Drive. Bottoming out on Runnymeade Road...just to see if you could bust your head on the roof of your car. Rat-racing down Phillips Bridge Road and through the Jonestown curves to prove how well your car handled. Lemme tell ya...a boy howdy BUNCHA cars got bent on those curves. Yeah. Ask me how I know... The Shack on Stratford Road. Coffee House night at Bishop McGuinnes and all those cute flower child girls in their ponchos and hip-huggers jeans. The prestige of a Luchie Do? Bonus points if you know Luchies real name. Ah, do you remember these?
