Since were on the topic of pendatang, which seems to be the big issue. Theres a big debate about history, how ethnic chinese and indians came from china and india. How malays are from indonesia and so on. All these claims are fair, but the way i see it, most of us here today - Malay, Chinese, Indian, Kadazan, Dayak et all - were born and raised in Malaysia. The same applies to our grandparents and maybe even some of out great grandparents. Malaysia is and remains the only home we knew. We grew up here together - we took the same exams together, ate the same food together and celebrated the same festivities together, we have the same IC and th same passport. In fact, i know of ethnic chinese or indians who may feel a bit out of place in china or india (different dialect, experiences etc) The way i see it, none of us are pendatangs. Our ancestors may have been, but none of us are. Malaysia is our home, we were born in Malaysia and raised in Malaysia. So lets move on. The term isnt relevant anymore. This isnt the 50s.
