Since yesterday sections of the media in Kumasi through some - TopicsExpress

Since yesterday sections of the media in Kumasi through some unknown friends have vilified me and largely Kotoko Express for publishing that, defender Kwabena Adusei traveled to South Africa with a fake passport. Some of these friends like executioners slaughtered the sheep at the butchery before asking what crime the sheep committed to warrant its killing. Its fair! Its fair only within the context of the sickening media culture in Ghana, where some easily condemn or vilify others without knowing the facts of the issue based on which they launch their condemnation or vilification. Adusei traveled unannounced and at a time Kotoko managers were expecting him to sign a new contract. If he didnt want a contract extension, he couldve said it. The Ghc45000 he demanded as half payment for his re-engagement might have delayed but nothing stopped him from informing Kotoko that he was traveling to SA. Would he have been stopped? Management after being accused of selling the player secretly, recalls that, Aduseis passport was part of the passports being processed for a visas to Spain. How then could he go to South Africa when his passport was with Kotoko? So clearly, he went with a different passport. His passport with Kotoko, which expires in October 2016, was submitted by him to the club. If for any reason, Adusei changed his passport, why did he submit the old one to the club? Would he have traveled with Kotoko using that passport had the visas to Spain been granted as early as Kotoko wanted it? By our laws, is it okay to use two passports at the same time? Some of us in the media must be courageous to tell the truth. Has his passport, which is in Kotokos custody expired? Has it been cancelled? If hes stopped using it, why did he present that one to Kotoko? Why did he not also inform the club that he has long gone for a new one? I and Kotoko Express mightve erred in concluding that, Adusei traveled with a fake passport. I am not afraid to admit that, especially when an attempt to change what appeared as a harsh headline didnt work inexplicably. Thats why the front page headline, Adusei mystery passport differs from that which appeared on page 3. Some peoples problem has been with the use of the word fake but not actually the story which they havent said is false. The substance of the information on Adusei, legitimately passed on to me or Kotoko Express doesnt change. He traveled with a passport other than what is in the clubs possession. You are free to believe whatever you want to believe but the publication of the passport story was done without malice. It was only a sequel to the story on his unceremonious departure to South Africa at the time management was expecting to sign a new contract. The argument that he wasnt bound to Kotoko and so he could leave without telling anybody is weak. Granted that argument is true, why was he training with Kotoko if he wasnt in any way bound to the club. Weve got to teach our players to behave well because life is bigger and more than what we see today. Where has common courtesies gone to because after all, Adusei couldnt have been physically restrained from traveling. I dont like using uncouth language but its just foolish to accuse me or Kotoko Express of seeking to destroy Adusei? Of what benefit will that be to Kotoko Express? Whats the reward in carelessly tarnishing the reputation of others. Its evil! I hate the petty politics that often cloths Kotoko. Wherever that petty politics comes from, some of us have tried to stay away from it but its been style of some of the petty political players around the club to draw us into their dirty They can gleefully continue to play their political game. It wont entice me because of its uselessness. I have better things to do in and outside Kotoko than to blindly praise or follow personalities. So long as I am with Kotoko Express, I will do my best, within my professional ability to serve the interest of the club. People on the paper including myself have made and continue to make sacrifices which I wont talk of but one day at the appropriate time, the world will know and those who have chosen to run us down at the least chance will see that, after all, we were doing our best! God save Kotoko from petty politics!
