Sing Trouble Away Have you ever heard of singing your problems to the Lord?Probably not. Yet there are nearly 150 examples of this in the bible. Where? In the psalms. At first this sounds incredible, but as you study the psalms (which were songs to God), nearly every one of them dealt with some kind of trouble or trial through song. As Psalm 49 says, "I will submit and consent to a parable or proverb; to the music of a lyre I will unfold my riddle - my problem. Why should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of those who would supplant me surrounds me on every side..." (Psalm 49:4-5, AMP).From the psalms we can see that expressing our problems to the Lord through song greatly pleased Him. Why? Why would He want to hear our deepest distresses set to music? Probably because this approach displays great confidence in Him. When you have no confidence in someone, the tendency is to whine, beg or plead. But the psalmist knew His God would come through, and that was worth singing about!Try something new tonight: Write down anything that is troubling you. Then concentrate on what you expect God to do. Dwell on His greatness and ability to resolve the situation. Then try a little song in thanksgiving to Him. I know that this song in your heart will bring very sweet dreams!
