Single Track won the First TAAN International Eco-Challenge held - TopicsExpress



          

Single Track won the First TAAN International Eco-Challenge held in Kathmandu on Saturday. Narayan Gopal Maharjan, Buddhi Bahadur Tamang, Aayaman Thing Tamang and Jebi Limbu were the members of Single Track. The team event organized by Travel Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) comprised of 6.5 km running, 14.5 km cycling and 7.5 km rafting. It took Single Track 2 hours 43 minutes 37 seconds to complete the event. Dhanjit Rai was the manager of Single Track for all three segments. Champion Single Track received a cash prize of Rs 100,000 along with the trophy, gold medals and certificates. Tribhuvan Army Club B finished runner-up clocking 2 hours 46 minutes 59 seconds. The team managed by Pushpa Raj Shahi comprised Himal Tamata, Tikaram Thapa, Chitra Paudel and Basanta Chaudhary. The team received a cash prize of Rs 75,000. Likewise, El Yak stood third completing the event in 2 hours 48 minutes 16 seconds. Mangal Krishna Lama, Sunil Lama, Rajan Raj Bhandari and Richard Bull were the members of the team while Dawa Sherpa was the manager. El Yak bagged a purse of Rs 50,000 along with the trophy, medals and certificates. Minister for Youth and Sports Ram Kumar Shrestha handed over the prizes to the winners. Earlier, Australian Ambassador to Nepal Glenn White and National Sports Council Member Secretary Yuvaraj Lama had jointly inaugurated the event in Tokha. The event, organized with a view to promoting tourism and adventure sports in Nepal, saw participation of altogether 21 teams.
