Site: MCG the GAOL location: LE15 7TU Rutland oakham Price :£35 lunch tea coffee squash included Times: gates open 0800 game on 0930 end ex 1630 Key points: it really is a jail! FPS:350-(400-500 MED 25 metres) Semi only used all day however this was a trail may go full auto outside. Number of players :80 ish Right initial intro to this site. Not currently fully open only second full game day that has been held. Certain areas are due to change once contacts have been signed. Therefore this review will reflect areas that will soon be obsolete. First impressions WOW! The site is amazing cant get much better than playing in a jail. Friendly atmosphere on arrival working lights toilets chairs tables indoor safe zone. Walk in the entrance greated by staff sat at a desk all players listed on forms. Pay remaining balance (deposit of £10 paid prior). Turn right into possibly the poshest safe zone ever. Set up my gear on a table and waited for the troops to arrive. Bombed up and awaited the start........... Safety brief was short and concise nothing missed out that I could think of. After we made our way to the game zone. Its approximately 200 metres from the safe zone (this is due to change once site fully open to a building next to game zone entrance, cant comment on the building didnt go in it). Teams were split into 2 reds and Yellows identified by double banding on the upper arm. Chrono was carried out prior to first game starting by 2 marshals and 2 chronos very swift in completing and tagging peoples rifs In a nutshell the game zone consists of 3 huge wings each with 2 floors, numerous corridors, stupid amount of rooms, stairways, offices, blacked out areas also outside areas to fight over. Too many areas to mention to be honest. First game was reds defending Yellows attacking. Simple rules medic regen used throughout the day. Fighting wad fierce extremly close and intense in parts also lots of areas for the long 50 metre shots as well. Pistols owned indoors as well as grenades. There are a number of key doorways that give you entrance to next area it was noted on a few games that these could become gridlocked easily there was around 80 players on site so at times breaching areas via 1 doorway was nigh impossible and end with stale mate. (These areas have been highlighted and plans are in progress to create more entrances to certain areas, this is pending contracts and site being fully open). Marshalls where on the ball if they found an area gridlocked they would try and assist with the use of grenades to keep the game moving this was a nice touch. Other games that where played throughout the day varied from VIP hit fallback games attack defend VIP delivery etc. Im not going to ruin through every game as dont think any need. There were 1 or 2 games that didnt work that well but with the site in its infancy I suppose trial and error is the way. Marshalls where spot on through the day. Positioned themselves in good areas and listened to any complaints. I know of 2 players that where warned for non hit taking, good prompt action taken. Overall the site has massive potential the staff have put in alot of work covering fence areas to make it hard cover also creating mini kill house rooms throughout the site and dark rooms so all your senses need to be top notch. Cant wait till the contacts have been done so the place can get tweaked. Will I visit again most definatly bit of a trek for me but was worth it. Got battle wounds to prove it. Well done MCG on securing a site for the future hope it goes from strength to strength.
