Sitting here at the Tribhuvan International airport, I see a lot - TopicsExpress

Sitting here at the Tribhuvan International airport, I see a lot of young Nepali men and women hanging around at the departure hall waiting for their flight time. Most of them carrying in their hands the Malaysian Airlines ticket. Looking battered, they cant be tourists visiting Malaysia for a taste of our pristine beaches or cosmopolitan life. Many of them with fresh tikas on their forehead and flower petals on their head, probably as a sign of blessing from their respective families - sending them off with hope, prayers of safety and success that forces them to leave everything behind to work as construction workers, waitres or hotel porters, seeking better lives. I really do wish all of them luck. For every tragedies that has befallen our country last year, Malaysia is still regarded as a land of opportunity for many. Nepal is a beautiful country, filled with culture and love, but it doesnt have enough to sustain its people. With its amazing glaciers and mountains, they could easily export energy to its other neighbouring country, and its so strange to me that they dont have enough for their own use. What happened there is beyond me. Its true that one only starts traveling once they return. You appreciate where youre from and be thankful for what youve seen.
