Six TVA power plants shut down in North Alabama, 1,100 employees - TopicsExpress

Six TVA power plants shut down in North Alabama, 1,100 employees of a huge paper mill in Courtland, Al. All of these plants operated with coal as a fuel source. Just think about all of the coal miners and spin off jobs that will be negatively affected by these shut downs. There also is a possibility that Alabama Power may close plants in the Walker/Jefferson County Area. Alot of coal mines have already closed due to the strict EPA permitting requirements or just didnt want to operate with the hassel. For every heavy manufacturing job that is lost, it is estimated that there are six other jobs lost in the community or spin off jobs. Alabama must make every effort to save our jobs if the politicians want to continue to keep the tax base. What is the alternative when we have nothing but a few low paid jobs and no method of aquiring taxes to keep this monumental government machine fed with money?
