Six veteran officers hang up their law enforcement hats SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Six Springfield Police Officers with a total of 200 years of law enforcement experience among them retired on Friday. Captain Thomas Trites and Officers Peter Manolakis, Pablo Diaz, Thomas Nehmer, John Aberdale and Timothy Morrow all received their badges in the late 1970s and early 1980s. They told 22News they’ll miss their chosen profession. Detective Diaz said, “Mostly, I’ll definitely miss the people that I was with. I’ve worked with a bunch of great men and women, a great bunch of guys and mostly I’ll miss them.” It was an emotional retirement party, as the six veteran Springfield officers begin a new chapter of their lives.
