Six years in the #JO: Heres what comes to my mind during Christmas. Bear with me but Ive always wanted to share how I feel during this time. I love Jordan and Im raising my family here and this is where my friends are. But when it comes to Christmas, it always gets a little weird. On one hand, its amazing that so many non-Christian people go out of their way to say Merry Christmas- love this about Jordanians! But when it comes to actually talking about my faith, many of my #JO friends are quick to say, Oh, youre Christian? Well, we believe Jesus was just a prophet and they then quickly go on to talk about Moses, David and the rest. Its like they really dont wanna discuss him. Just a prophet.. NEXT! Well, today, on CHRISTmas, hes not just a prophet. Can Jesus have at least one day where so many dont quickly write him off as, Ooh, we love Jesus BUT he was just a prophet. Look, I was raised and am Christian but I honor the other faiths. I read the Quran and from what I saw (yes, in Arabic. I read Arabic) it wasnt supporting what all my buddies were telling me, i.e. Just a prophet, nothing special. move on Brett! According to the Holy Quran, Jesus is the only prophet to be our Mathal (example) 43:59 , Al-Masseh (the Messiah, the Christ), an Ayah (a miracle of sign) 21:91, 19:21, Zakey (sinless) 19:19 and the coolest one of all (I think) Wajeeh (highly exalted in this life and the life to come) 3:45. He even grants peace on HIMSELF ( 19:33). Thats pretty awesome. No prophet grants PEACE on their own head except ISSA So were not talking about Is Jesus God? or Does God have a Son? today, were just giving Issa the credit he deserves. No other prophet is called these things I just laid out in the Quran so... yes, tomorrow you can tell me my Bible has been changed (which is very insulting by the way) and that my Jesus is not a Savior but today, can we respect the Holy Books and see him as more than just a prophet? Lets call him Our Wajeeh and Our Masseh. #MerryChristmas #gotifoffmychest #thanksforbearingwithme
