Skating at the the Woonsocket Ice Skating Rink is a great way to spend a winter afternoon. Skates are free but limited to first come first serve. River Island Park has walking paths along the Blackstone River, a canoe ramp and a bandstand for summer concerts. With the addition of the ice skating rink, the park is a year-round attraction. While the rink itself is smaller than a typical hockey rink, a refrigeration system keeps the ice hard during warm weather. Hockey playing is not allowed, but music keeps the skating fun. The Woonsocket Ice Skating Rink is open daily from December through February, weather permitting. Contact City Hall at 762-6400 for additional information.
