Skeptics often criticize Christianity by saying theres no proof. They say that to be a Christian, you have to abandon logic and ignore science. What skeptics dont realize is that they are being hypocritical. By their standards (which they only apply to the Bible), we couldnt prove that Abraham Lincoln existed. We couldnt prove that George Washington ever lived. They believe that they existed because of the documentation of their lives, corroborated stories, and reliable eyewitness accounts (the bible has all of this, and more). Yet when it comes to Jesus and the Bible, they dont apply the same standard of evidence that they do to any other historical book or figure. We cant prove that Washington and Lincoln existed because we werent there. We dont have video evidence of these historical figures, nor did we see the, with our own eyes (direct evidence), but what we do have is called indirect evidence. For example, if you were in a building and looked outside a window and saw it start to rain, that would be direct evidence that its raining. You could see it happening with your own eyes. However, if you were inside a building, then you saw someone come in the door, take off their wet coat, then put away their wet umbrella, and heard thunder in the background, that would be enough indirect evidence for a reasonable person to conclude that its raining outside. When you can compile enough indirect evidence, it is just as strong as indirect evidence. In fact, with many criminal cases today, indirect evidence is used to convict criminals. In some cold cases where the suspect and witnesses are all dead, and there is no one alive to interview, the only thing they have to rely on is indirect evidence, and that is sufficient to convict someone of a crime. The Bible is one of the most historically accurate, reliable, corroborated documents in history. It contains eyewitness accounts that contain multiple sources of evidence which determine it to be true, unaltered, and corroborated from outside sources. It was written by about 40 men in about 1600 years, in multiple languages in different countries, yet contains no contradictions and it fits together perfectly. It is the only book that has specifically fulfilled prophecies, . The same cannot be said about any other religion.
