Skin Care Facts By LH Lee, eHow Contributor The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It is made of multiple layers of tissues, and covers and protects the bones, muscles and organs in the body. Nothing, however, protects the skin. Though skin is incredibly durable, elastic and has the capability to renew itself--it is essential to properly care for it. Proper Cleansing Proper skin hygiene is essential. Without cleansing, the skin can develop infections, acne and even produce a foul smell. It is important to use the correct facial cleanser depending upon your skins needs. Generally, you should stay away from using a bar of soap as a facial cleanser. Soap has a tendency to dry out the skin from its essential oils. People suffering with acne will find cleanser with 2 percent sayalic acid helpful. Many like to swipe a layer of toner to wipe the leftover residue. It is important, however, to make sure to not over dry the skin. It is also helpful to use a scrub a couple times a week to exfoliate the dead skin cells. Moisturizer The skin is exposed to many outside factors such as dirt, dust and UV rays. It is important to always moisturize--whether you have dry or oily skin. There are tons of different types of lotions from anti-wrinkle to sensitive skin. Moisturizers provide a thin seal over the skin, which helps to maintain the skins natural moisture levels.
