Skipper organizes Free Generic Health Camp in Kano Nigeria Once again in line with its Social Responsibility initiatives, Skipper organized a Free Generic Health Camp in Tiga Village (population 10,000) in the Kano State of Nigeria on November 7, 2014. The event was organized by SkipperSeil Groups subsidiary, Skipper Nigeria Limited and with the association of the Rotary Club of Kano. Dr. Saidu Muhammad (Director-Medical Services) represented the Honorable Health Commissioner of Kano (Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf) inaugurated the Camp and introduced Skipper and the cause of the camp to the villagers. The State Govt. provided the team of one doctor and two nurses and the local hospital supported with a team of 2 doctors, 2 nurses, 2 support staff. Tiga village is in the northern State of Kano in Nigeria and has a population of around 5000. The socio-economic state of the village is on the lower side where the need of basic healthcare facility and education is on a high. The event was organized between 10:00 am – 05:00 pm in the premises of Govt. Hospital Tiga and the following activities were conducted: 1. Free Generic Consultation from Expert Doctors. 2. Free Generic Medicines to all patients. 3. Distribution of WHO approved Medicated Bednet (PermaNet) which prevents Malaria and is effective for one year. 4. Distribution of refreshments to all patients. Post camp, remaining medicines were donated to the Govt Hospital for the benefit of the villagers. NTA Kano and The Daily Trust covered the event and shared their good wishes for the good cause. The Governor-Lagos along with the Deputy Governor, SSG also appreciated Skipper for the initiative. The initiative was well organized with the support of Rotary, State Government, Local Administration, Local Government, Local Government Hospital, Local Police, Religious Leaders and Skipper Nigeria staff. The Local Civic bodies of Kano paid a Thank You Visit to Skipper’s Site Office to personally thank all Skipperites for the noble initiative. We appreciate the efforts of Ms. Payal Prashar, Deputy Manager - HR & Admin, Skipper Electricals India Ltd. and Late Alhaji Musa, HR & Admin, Skipper Nigeria Ltd. for making this event a great success.
