And while I am on a roll...colonists wore hats to bed and slept on a bed under a canopy for a reason also associated with bugs...since early roofs were often thatched ones with crawly critters that dropped down. Sometimes, colonial homes were bermed into hillsides and goats and/or sheep grazed upon the roof..we know what they dropped through the roof:)
