Slept wonderfully in the lovely hotel room and woke in time to catch the retreating tide at sunrise. After a huge Welsh breakfast of bacon, black pudding, sausage and eggs, we headed into the village and then decided to wander some of the longer trails in the surrounding gardens and forest. We passed the house where Patrick McGoohan lived while filming The Prisoner, where theres a memorial plaque for him, then down to the lighthouse and the beach. From there we climbed up to the dog cemetery and then followed signs to the Ghost Garden. We arrived through a stone fence and a sign saying we were there, then looked around at what appeared to be the same vegetation as elsewhere. Then suddenly noticed a grove of ghost gums. Long walk to visit our home vegetation. Then back past the ponds and temples to the village. Also picked up a few excellent Prisoner souvenirs at the Prisoner shop. Heading north we drove past Snowdonia along the narrow stone wall lined roads of the national park, following the quaint Welsh highland railway. Stunning vistas. Arriving in Caernarfon we paid a visit to the castle and then headed to Anglesey and the Ireland ferry. A short crossing and we were in Dublin. We had arrived a bit earlier than our hosts expected so we went up the road and had a burger frites and beer then made it back to the house in time to meet Hans and Dierdre who proved to be very jolly and enthusiastic in their welcome.
