Slightly edited from last years Wan Big Handlin fiasco..you get the jist tho lol! THERE has been widespread uproar in Derry today over the distrubiton of MTV Crashes tickets that went on general release this morning. Tens of Thousands of eager concert goers all tried in vain to gain tickets via Ticketmaster & Cool Discs & Foyleside for the highly anticipated concerts that is being held in the city’s Ebrington Square this Autumn. Panic set in as late as last night as 1000’s bombarded various unofficial MTV Facebook pages asking the same stupid questions over & over again. One facebooker wanted to know could she use 4 different email addresses, one is her sisters in Australia, and could you use a Foyleside gift card or Post Office card to buy them and can she use her boyfriends’ name that lives with his ma but he is using her house as a dole drop and will the acts be confirmed once you are charged the £5 fee? I took to the streets of Derry this morning to get the views and reactions to those who were fortunate and not so fortunate. Majella Doherty-McLaughlin-O’Doherty , 19, mother of 5 from Shellcorn Fields in the city was first on the scene outside BBC Radio Foyle this morning to complain in her Primark onesie, along with her children Demi-Lourdes, Brittany-Summer Meadows, Montana-Hannah, Chardonnay-Beyonce & Rihanna-Shakira. “I wuz ragin so I waz, I wuz all, I only found out last nite thru me frend on Fissbook that ye hady apply on the internit at 9 in the fukin morning..I wuz all ffs sure I don’t get up till near 11 to watch Jeremy Kyle on ITV+1. dey cud have give us a wee bit more notice. I wuz all how am I gony tell them wee wains that they canny go now?? Another local woman, Sabrina Kelly-Da Gama-Carlin, 32, mother of 12 and grandmother of 20 from the Topla Hill and my cozy bed was also outraged at the ticket fiasco. “I think it’s a bloody disgrace. I was told a few weeks ago from a friend of a friend’s brother’s girlfriend that tickets would only be given out to anybody that lived in the Waterside who had a TV license, and now I ended up getting a TV license and I still never got a ticket?? Now I’ll have to move house now so I won’t get caught to pay the license fee. Am pure ragin as the last outdoor concert I was at was the Hooley on the Hill back in 2004 and that was quare craic, I won a bag of coal on the horse shoe throwing competition and a box of tunnocks tea cakes on the rickety wheel. That was pure leefal.” One disgruntled concert goer, Richard Head, 18 going on 60, a student from Magee who queued outside Cool Discs in the pishing rain all night to get his hands on the sought after tickets didnt know all he cuold buy them online from the comfort of his house to get them. “It is a complete joke. I will be contacting BBC, RTE, UTV, MTV, TG4, Channel 9, The Derry Journal, Pat Ramsey, Local Women, Sinn Fein, City of Culture Office, Derry City Council, RAAD, DRD, DUP, PUP, IRSP,PSNI, Ilex. NITB, 32 County Sovereignty Movement and I’ll be going straight onto that Mark Patterson fella on Facebook for a cry as well.” Another crying bastard who was actually successful in getting tickets but bemoaned the fact that he had to pay £5 per transaction and had to take the morning off signing on so he could get on the internet in his luxury apartment down the Quay. , Mickey Manbag 44, from no fixed abode spoke out “Think it’s a joke that I ended up paying £36 for 12 tickets for a concert to see mega pop stars & bands for that price. I don’t even want to go to it, but for that price I applied anyway” £36 is a lot of money when you’re on benefits & DLA and only getting £287.50 a week to live on and make ends meet ffs. Was hoping to apply for more tickets but couldn’t afford it and was running out of addresses. I’ll recoup the money anyway from eBay & Gumtree where I’ll be selling the tickets for £200 a pair, but it’s not the point, it’s the principle” A spokesperson from either Derry City Council, City of Culture or MTV were unavailable for comment at time of going to press but we managed to get a hold of Gutsy in Waterloo Street who gave us his views on the big event . Gutsy added “Weve already seen a wonderful, varied, diverse programme of events unveiled with something for everyone to enjoy. As we saw last year during the City of Culture events. Derry~Londonderry prides itself as a city of music and there is no better place for MTV to come to. MTV Crashes music event is a huge coup for the city and I for one am hugely excited about the whole thing. It is going to be one huge party which will I will be partaking in and you never know, myself & wee Tights could be headlining act on one of the days!” Gutsy joked, before finally adding “It will take Londonderry to a whole new level over the course of a fantastic weekend. Uppa hoops”
