Slipping through solitary silence Enveloped by the bitter - TopicsExpress

Slipping through solitary silence Enveloped by the bitter cold Embraced by the darkness I walk. Frosty breaths and staccato footfalls Punctuate the void with their steady, syncopated rhythms. Bathed by moonshadows of barren trees I can imagine myself a ghost ... alone, unobserved, surreal. The darkened chill surrounds me, Somehow balancing the darkened chill within me. Am I here? Where I am? Who am I...? My cell phone shatters the silent reverie with a shrill siren-ring; I glance down, and not recognizing the number, I walk ... Straight into a sapling I hadnt seen. Laughing, perhaps too loudly, at my own, unaudienced-absurdity, I realize that I have startled a passer-by, dressed in black, in the darkness. I want to apologize for embodying that scary-maniacal-stranger, I want to explain that Im funnier than I am frightening, I want to wish them a Happy New Year. Instead, I walk. (my walk, last night, in the dark, poetically recalled)
