Smile if youre happy. Smiling is pleasant, its contagious, but - TopicsExpress

Smile if youre happy. Smiling is pleasant, its contagious, but most importantly, its very, very quiet. Unlike whistling. Yesterday, I was at a store, and a woman was whistling a tune. I dont know what tune or tunes, and it doesnt matter. Ive never been a fan of public tune whistling. Im not even sure theres a place for it in society anymore. Ill admit, Im noise sensitive, particularly to noises in the higher frequency range. It matters not if youve formed a tune with those frequencies. I just feel like higher pitched noises should not be generated without good reason, and then not for very long. For example, why the high pitched beep on some fans, air-conditioners, and many otherwise quiet appliances, whenever I push a button? I already know I pushed the button, why wake up everybody in the house to let them know I pushed a button? All of this got be wondering about the purpose of public tune whistling. Ive never once seen a sad person become happy because somebody near them was whistling a variety of non-stop tunes. We are not birds. We have birds for that. Indeed, public tune whistling appears to be primarily a self-satisfying expression of ones current state of happiness. Im happy that youre happy, but then you launch a whistling assault on everyone? The public tune whistler may also feel that they are announcing I am happy and carefree, therefore I am approachable, come gather and listen....much like the Pied Piper. Anyway, smile if youre happy. Dont whistle.
