Smoke Alarms Saved Lives Overnight: This morning at 3:46 a.m. units were dispatched to the 5600 block of Greenhill Avenue with reports of a dwelling fire. Upon arrival, units saw smoke coming from a single family two story wood frame house. First arriving units also found all occupants outside the dwelling. One occupant was awaken by a smoke alarm, and alerted his wife, child and all other occupants to the danger, allowing them to evacuate the dwelling safely. Any Baltimore City resident may call 311 to request a smoke alarm. Within two hours firefighters will come to your home to install one smoke alarm on each floor of your house.
