Smoke Alarms Saved Lives Overnight: This morning at 3:46 a.m. units were dispatched to the 5600 block of Greenhill Avenue with reports of a dwelling fire. Upon arrival, units saw smoke coming from a single family two story wood frame house. First arriving units also found all occupants outside the dwelling. One occupant was awaken by a smoke alarm, and alerted his wife, child and all other occupants to the danger, allowing them to evacuate the dwelling safely. Any Baltimore City resident may call 311 to request a smoke alarm. Within two hours firefighters will come to your home to install one smoke alarm on each floor of your house. Smoke Alarms for the deaf or hearing impaired are also available by calling the Office of the Fire Marshal: (410) 396-5752.
