So Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi recently made statements that we have to intervene in Syria because the chemical attack that killed hundreds (or even thousands) were outside the circle of civilized behavior. So what about the 100,000 casualties (6,500 children) in the Syrian civil war that came before the chemical attack? What about the slaughter of Christians by rebels? What about those rebels who gut and eat the hearts of one of their opposition? I guess these all fall in the realm of civilized behavior. So much so that these rebels would our allies if we got involved. Absolutely what is going on over there is heart wrenching. But to try to simply the conflict down to a statement of "but think about the children" or "but they used chemicals" is beyond absurd and to think that America knows how to fix it is extremely arrogant and foolish. If America wants to again be the leader of the world that has a positive impact in reducing this kind of barbarism she can do so by again becoming a shining example to the world for why peace and freedom is the recipe for prosperity. And if you and I wish to be a part of seeing the world change then we can speak out against wrong and point to Jesus rather than military might as answer to a world that is sick and broken...and we can pray.
