So.... Continuing my mini-series on the old daze and the ongoing - TopicsExpress

So.... Continuing my mini-series on the old daze and the ongoing question when did Ooops! actually start? I have the next installment: At around 5am 21 years ago today (29/8/93) I was released from my first night in a police cell.....the previous afternoon (28th) me and a bunch of guys from Ooops! set out from Tilehurst to attend our first rave. If I recall correctly, our little convoy consisted of my faithful blue party bus (Transit) with a caravan on the back; bearded Andys short wheelbase Landrover pick up with a caravan, Tims Golf GTi, Harrys Saab 900 Turbo, a Beetle (Alex?) and a couple of other cars. We trucked on up to Milton Keynes area, and were approaching the site (a wooded area) when we came across a police roadblock. Turning us into a side road, they pulled us up in convoy and came to have a chat (I was leading the convoy with Trauma)....first cop says can I take a look in the back of the van - and I pull the curtain back. He steps back, and shouts to his colleagues weve got some disco equipment in this one! and thats it, nicked! The whole convoy goes off to the MK police HQ, me and Trauma with a cop in the van, the rest all following behind. When we get there, the cops say they cant disconnect the caravan. so drive it all into the compound...Trauma remembers the stash, so bold as brass tells them he needs some food, and retrieves the loaf of bread from the caravan. An hour later they have unloaded the rig, and let the van and caravan back out into the car park - where the rest of the gang are waiting, along with various crews from some of the other sound systems already nicked. Everyone then proceed to have a party in the police station car park!! (At least, the above has all been relayed to me, as me and H were inside being questioned - the charges: conspiracy to cause a public nuisance, and arrested to prevent a breach of the peace....this was pre-CJA days, but the August bank holiday weekend just over a year after Castlemorton) As I said, at about 5am, they let me and Harry out. Someone slips me half a tab, and off I stumble to join the party that has been going on all night in the car park - by all accounts, there had been about 60 odd milling around, sparking up, dishing out and selling things and generally having a laugh! So - was this the birth of Ooops!? Ive already recounted the meeting of me and Harry at carnival in May; and the sunday sessions we had had over June and July....OR, was the birth of Ooops! our first successful party (Ill find the flyer for that one soon)? Funny how our first party was a situation that had me n Harry in the nick, yet we still continued to attempt to be a party crew. Flyer doesnt show us on it, as we were too new to be thought of at flyer production stage - but we were more than welcome to come and join the party!! All back to mine after to carry out chilling in the bankholiday sun - listening to Reading festival on the wind #moreteavicar #animalscantalk Hardcore Ravers - avin it in the cop shop car park!!! Role call: Alex (Biscuit Boy), Emily Waters (tbc), Tim Pickles, Trauma, Carla Heyworth, and probably more that I cant remember plus those tagged at the top!
