So Gary and I watched this documentary today. The narrator shows us a scorpion--then shows the scorpion eating baby tarantulas (which were cute, strangely enough). The scorpion finishes his spider snack and approaches a grasshopper mouses burrow (neither of us knew anything about them). Inside is a beautiful mother mouse nursing her young. She approaches the entrance to her burrow and pokes her head out. Oh no little mouse, Gary cried. Dont answer the door! Its not the pizza man! She exits the burrow amid our many protests and approaches the scorpion. We wince. She attacks the scorpion before it knows what hit it, kills it, and drags its body into her burrow. We were stunned. Wow. A mouse that kills scorpions. But thats not the end. She leaves the burrow a minute later, climbs up on a rock and does this-- https://youtube/watch?v=9Xa-GSm1P0I After howling at the moon she then goes hunting for centipedes, worms, other mice, snakes . . . (SNAKES!). The world is a strange and wonderful place. But Gary and I agreed that a) we were really glad we werent four inches tall and b) that these small animals dont hunt in packs.
