So I applied to change my party affiliation form the Republican Party to the Libertarian Party. I’ve grown tired of compromising my beliefs for the sake of political and electoral pragmatism. Ive grown tired of trying to save a dying party, who does not even want to save itself. It is a party that is stuck in the past and has repeatedly thrown away chances to garner a wider range of supporters. This goes against every strategy for winning an election. I have participated in some debates with some stanch republicans and have learned all too well of the bigoted and xenophobic nature of many of the mainstream party. They cling to the notion of America being a Christian nation and enthusiastically support the American empire. I cannot in good conscience stand with such a party any more. This party claims such fidelity to the founding father but contradict the vision the founders had for this country. The claim love and fidelity to the constitution but will cast aside some of its most vital protection for the sake of “safety” wilst they chastise the Democrats for doing the same. When you try to have an intellectual conversation with them they clam your “Muslim lover” ,“socialists”, that you hate America or any other thing like that without even knowing the full scope of your views. So I’m done, what the GOP let it die the slow death that it has earned.
