So I came home from work feeling like crap, sore throat, cough and aches- the lurgy has struck and it has been a tough week but I decided to head down to the beach for twilight photos, gotta grab some shots for my photo club challenge and I felt really guilty as I have been home late every night this week and poor mutt has not had a beach visit in ages. Love the evening beach light. So I head to my fave spot, clamber over the limestone and set to taking slow speed pics of the waves as the light fades. I start to feel really fatigued and decide to head home before the light is completely gone but when I look round I glimpse my old, deaf and mainly blind dog, nose to the ground, loping rapidly out of sight along the beach. In a moment he is lost to sight and no point calling him as he couldn’t hear anyway!!! Just not what I needed not tonight. But he is on a mission following his nose and I know he won’t come back until he finds something to bring back for a game of fetch. I stash my camera and tripod and set off at a trot in the darkening night cursing and coughing. I twist my bloody knee and my throat is burning and every time I see the dog he is still pointing away from me heading south!! I can’t leave him because he really would not cope alone on the beach and I don’t know if he could find his way home these days. Finally waving like a nutter into the dusk and yelling with frustration I eventually manage to catch his eye and he comes bounding back wagging his tail and stupidly anticipating that I have found the ball or rope he was hoping for. Idiot mutt, but he is just getting old and obsessive and I am just glad to get him back. Trudge back to the camera and head off over the rocks in the dark nursing my twisted knee and stub my toes on both feet repeatedly on the coarse limestone. Language not fit to be repeated!! So now I am home feeling completely worn out, sore knee, aching bones, scratchy throat from yelling and swearing into the darkness, cuts on my toes that will make wearing shoes a challenge next week and –crap on the telly! Am I whinging- do I sound fed up?? Well no I am blessed –look at this
