So...I feel I need to set the record straight about why we are not doing a raffle at the event. Someone actually called the venue questioning the lack of a raffle. WE ARE HAVING FREE GIVE AWAYS...with some nice gifts. Your event ticket has a number on it. We will be picking numbers. These are the facts of why we ARE NOT doing a raffle: We would have to get a permit through RI state police. That has to be done 60 days in advance. We would have to solicit donations from area businesses (lots of leg work and time. Hard to do when I work 40 hours a week, and have a very busy home life schedule) The businesses would ask for a EIN number. To get that number, we would have to submit the application to IRS. Once the event is over, I would have to submit a report to the state police listing our profits, tickets sold, purpose for funds, donations given etc. As you can see, I have FULLY researched this option, and It is much more than I am capable of doing at this time. I feel this fundraiser will be successful even without the raffle. We will also have a donation table set up for anyone who would like to give an extra donation. Please do not call the venue asking about raffles. I would like to use this venue in the future and dont want them to think we are pests. They are only providing the hall.
