So I got an amazing but also uh-oh call from Gibbs Garden earlier. It is in violation of their policies to do a portrait shoot there and their website will be updated to reflect that. The General Manager was absolutely amazing and wonderful though and very considerate. While the content can be argued if it was appropriate or not, he said the gardens appreciate that it was art and they would no way want the photos taken there to be removed. They just wished to limit the mention of Gibbs Gardens so other photographers would not do portrait photography there as it disturbs the experience of the other attendees of Gibbs Gardens. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this. As a 4 Season member there I love the fact that the General Manager took the time to contact someone, tell them please limit this for the sake of others as it may disturb there time at the gardens, but offered multiple solutions to quell any sort of negative feeling that may come from me. I will say immediately that this GM was likable and I was all apologies. The GM mentioned he would offer credit for my membership back and I couldnt even fathom the idea of not being a part of the gardens membership now it was so impressive. The point of this message guys is if you are a portrait photographer...Im sorry...they have always had the policy that it shouldnt be done. Yes Ive done a few shoots there and Im thankful for those unique opportunities. In the future though I will just be going to enjoy the wonderful landscape and flowers and know that the staff of the gardens is there to take care of my interest.
